Henry Hipps Driving School WirralJoin Henry and Learn with Confidence! The theory test can be prepared for using the DVD for each part (which will be provided). The lessons will prepare you for the practical test. A mock test will be done prior to the real test. The Driving Test - TheoryThere are 2 parts to the Theory Test and both parts must be passed at the same exam which can be taken in Birkenhead, the test centre is in Europa Boulevard. Each part of the test is done at a PC.Part 1 - Multiple choiceThe first test consists of 50 multiple choice questions to be completed within 57 minutes. Some questions require 1 correct answer or 2 correct answers etc. Questions can be marked so you can return later to check your answer. The pass mark is 43.Part 2 - Hazard Perception TestThis tests your ability to respond to a developing hazard which is anything that causes you change direction or change speed. Emphasis is put on identifying the hazard during the early part of its development. There is at least one developing hazard on each of 14 video clips which use every day road scenes and on one video there are 2 developing hazards. However each video will have several hazards but only one hazard is being marked and so you will need to click the mouse each time you identify a hazard. Each clip is only seen once. The pass mark is 44/75 as each hazard will be marked between 0 and 5.The Driving Test - PracticalLocally there are 2 test centres, Upton and Wallasey. The practical test lasts about 40 minutes and the test starts with an eyesight test followed by 2 questions on vehicle maintenance. During the test the Examiner will ask you to perform one of the reversing exercises and possibly the emergency stop. In addition there will be a period of approximately 10 minutes of independent driving which can be done at any time during the test and it will be introduced by the Examiner prior to starting. During this time you will be expected to drive independently following either:-
The Examiner may use a diagram to help you understand the directions. If you go wrong but continue to drive safely then the Examiner will get you back onto the test route but no driving fault will be marked. If you forget the instructions then ask the Examiner to repeat it and no driving fault will be marked. In order to pass you must drive safely and providing you have only 15 or under driving faults you will be successful. During the test the examiner will mark your performance on a Test Report and you will be given a copy at the end of the test. Booking your testDSA recommends that all learner drivers book their driving test through the official booking service on Directgov by visiting direct.gov.uk/drivingtest. |
Learning must be fun!![]() ![]()
My lessons with Henry were brilliant, they were always enjoyable and after each lesson I felt I had learnt something new thoroughly. I was able to progress at my own pace and after just a few hours driving with Henry was feeling much more confident after putting off driving lessons for 3 years due to nerves! I would highly recommend Henry to anyone as he is a fabulous instructor and an even better taxi!
